So, Indiana got a little surprise last week! We were awakened in the wee hours of the morning to an earthquake! Yes, an earthquake right here in good old Indiana. :) It was quite frightening considering we're not used to things like that around here. In fact, when I first woke up to the bed shaking violently and the windows buckling I thought it was a tornado. That would be what most midwesterners would assume in such circumstances! So, I jumped out of bed and went to scoop up my three children to take them downstairs to safety. It hit me that I didn't know how I could possibly get all three of them downstairs by myself. Then, I stood in the hallway for a minute to absorb what was really happening and I realized it was an earthquake instead. Still frightening, but at least it wasn't an approaching tornado about to rip off our upper floor! We definitely felt it more upstairs than dh did downstairs. He was up working on his laptop in the recliner. He felt the shaking, but it was a lot more intense upstairs. Poor ds was on the top bunk of the bunk beds and REALLY felt it! It woke him up and he yelled out to me. He thought it was a 'headless monster' shaking his bed. ;) Poor guy! We were relieved to hear that there were no injuries and that the damage was very minimal in Indiana. This quake was apparently felt as far south as Alabama & Georgia and as far north as Chicago. What a range! We've had several aftershocks since the original quake, but nothing as intense as the first.
Things have certainly been shakin' up around here! People are still talking about it! Doesn't take much to excite us these good old Indiana folks. hee.hee....
